Lethbridge Speed Skating Association

The Lethbridge Speed Skating Association is a club devoted to the sport of speed skating in Lethbridge.

Affiliated with the Alberta Speed Skating Association and Speed Skate Canada, the club provides coaching, training, and racing opportunities to its members in a fun, competetive, atmosphere.

Club Membership

Our season runs from October through March of each year. Club members skate Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings at the Labour Ice Arena in the North end.  Each skater will be given 2 sessions a week on two of these evenings (either Tuesday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday) depending on their skill level.

There are a number of opportunities for club members to race throughout the province during the season including our own provincially sanctioned meet which will be held in March. There are also long track meets in Calgary and Red Deer that many skaters attend in January. Racing is encouraged but not required.

Learn to Speed Skate

Our club also offers two Learn to Speed Skate sessions during the year.  Session 1 runs from October to December while Session 2 runs from January to March.  Each session costs $90 and consist of 10 one hour lessons.  Learn to Skate participants are invited to participate in a "Mini-Meet" at the end of their session.

Masters' Skating

Many of the parents in the club enjoy skating as well.  They form the foundation of our Masters group. These skaters range in ability from relative beginners, to former hockey players, to serious competitors who race at meets throughout the provi

nce. One of our Masters skaters even holds a national record. Masters may skate once a week at a session with only adults or they may join as a club member and skate an additional session with one of our club groups.
