About the LSSA!

The Lethbridge Speed Skating Association is a club devoted to the sport of speed skating in Lethbridge.

Affiliated with the Alberta Speed Skating Association and Speed Skating Canada, the club provides coaching, training, and racing opportunities to its members in a fun, competitive, atmosphere.

Club Membership

Our season runs from October through March of each year. Club members skate Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursday evenings at the Labor Ice Arena in the North end.  Novice and Beginner skaters skate 1 to 2 time per week and the club offers a Learn to Speed Skate Program and Masters Program on Tuesdays.

There are a number of opportunities for club members to race throughout the province during the season including our own provincially sanctioned meet which will be held in February. There are also long track meets held in the province that many skaters attend in January. Racing is encouraged but not required.

Learn to Speed Skate

Our club also offers two Learn to Speed Skate sessions during the year.  Session I runs from October to December while Session II runs from January to March.  Each session consist of 10 lessons and Learn to Skate participants are invited to participate in a "Mini-Meet" at the end of their session.
